Stuart Campbell, Managing Director

Born in the wee land of New Zealand, Stuart was raised in a typical household where the piano was in the TV room! The local school had little or no interest in fostering his love of music and refused his pleas to study it (it wasn't offered!). Private music lessons began early, but Stuart was far more interested in creating his own music than in playing others (much to his teacher's chagrin). To say that his music lessons were average would be a huge understatement. Stuart spent the next 25 years of his life deciphering the truth behind this mysterious thing called music whilst reconciling the fact that he was never going to be a lawyer or a plumber.

My Music Tutor® was founded by Stuart Campbell as a response to the lack of an effective, high quality music teaching system that was available to people of ALL ages and ALL levels of skill.

Stuart has a blend of experience and skills that are uncommon in the music education sector. He combines music performance, education and composition, with Information Technology & Communication expertise, entrepreneurship and business management.

Stuart has been teaching music for over 25 years. He lectured in music at the Victorian College of the Arts from 1990-1994 in both the Improvisation and Repertoire streams. From 1995-2000 he lectured at LaTrobe University where he created the performance stream for the Bachelor of Arts in Music.

He has performed as a pianist with some of the most prestigious ensembles in Australia including The Australian Art Orchestra, Chamber Made Opera, Victorian State Opera, and the two piano ensemble The Abraxas Project with Michael Kieran Harvey.

Stuart has played with many jazz, Latin and funk ensembles over the years and was a founding member of TIP, Del Barrio and Sambumbia.

Stuart is an award winning graduate of the VCA music school. He is the only graduate to have been awarded both the Gwen Nesbit Encouragement Award and Scholarship. Stuart has been a regularly commissioned composer writing for the Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane International Festivals. In 1998 he was the invited soloist at the Zagreb New Music Biennale. Stuart has a deep love of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and regularly gives concerts of his keyboard works.

Stuart holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Melb) and a Masters of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (AGSE).
